(Safely) #ShopSmall | Get to Know Your Neighbors

The news these days can feel pretty daunting, we get it. BUT we believe that to be productive and come out better on the other side of all of this, we need to focus on what we can do together. We may not be able to save the world in a mask and a cape - but we can definitely support our neighbors in sweatpants with our cell phones from our couches!

We believe it's important to always shop local, now more than ever, our community members and small business neighbors need our support.

Here are some great general guidelines from our friends over at the Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the Hillsborough Street Group:

The Gorgeous Antiquities of Cameron Village

The Gorgeous Antiquities of Cameron Village

  1. Order takeout or delivery and tip the same amount you would if you were dining in! Also, many local restaurants have adapted to include curbside pickup and call-ahead ordering. Some pretty great ways to make it easier than ever to pick up your favorite eats + treats!

  2. Shop online or via phone! Many stores have begun promoting online discounts + sales for those willing to fill their virtual carts. If you are eager to stop in - many of these stores are limiting the number of patrons in the store + increased the frequency in which they're disinfecting the space.

  3. Buy gift cards to be used later or to give as gifts! This too shall pass - and when we bounce back, one of the easiest ways to support our community now and later is buying gift cards today that encourage shopping tomorrow.

  4. Participate in virtual events to increase interaction while maintaining safety. Many local gyms + rec spaces are going live + posting videos that are easy to follow and keep you moving!

When you live at Clark Townhomes, you are centrally located walking distance from Cameron Village, Hillsborough Street, and not to mention all that is Downtown Raleigh!

This incredible neighborhood is made up of small businesses, local antiquities, and great eats that could all use your support at this time. Some incredible resources have been compiled to showcase what many local restaurants, stores and gyms are doing to adapt in the wake of COVID-19. We've linked these resources here, including lists from the folks at Cameron Village, Hillsborough Street, Shop Local Raleigh, and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance

Need to get yo' fit on? While some gyms have shut down temporarily to ensure the safety of their patrons, some have remained open and implemented new sanitary procedures and canceled group classes. Some gyms have taken to social media! Establishments like Heat in Downtown Raleigh, CorePower Yoga and Crunch Fitness in Cameron Village, and treadRaleigh on Hillsborough St., have moved to livestreaming classes + posting walkthroughs of great exercises to keep you moving at home!

Finding ways of injecting bits of the familiar is a great way to keep your sanity in all the craziness that is going on. We're all in this together, y'all, and anyway that we can remind ourselves of that is a positive.

Not to mention, this transition is hard, y'all! We are used to seeing smiling faces when we pick up our daily coffees and muffins or making quick small talk while picking up our lunches. For many, these little interactions are a part of our routine, and the reason that we chose Raleigh in the first place - the people. We are embedded in a vibrant community that has been crafted by the incredible people who live and work here.

We are going to come out stronger on the other side of this, and we are going to do it together!

Even here at Chappell, we have adapted to the times to include more virtual tours of our homes + communities, Facetime and Google Hangout walkthroughs of our properties, and doubling down on all of our sanitary practices at onsite open houses - including the weekly open houses for Clark Townhomes through the end of April! | #ChooseChappell
